Tipid Travel Tip: Regina Rica in Tanay, Rizal

Regina Rica or Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia sits on a 13.5 hectare property in Sampaloc, Tanay that is at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains.  It is a place for prayer, contemplation and wellness. Despite being a huge place, I personally felt peace and serenity in this wonderful place, and indeed, we were very happy to have come on a Good Friday for pilgrimage and prayers.

We went to Regina Rica on a Good Friday, and as expected, the place was packed with people.  But despite the crowd, you can still feel the solemnity of the place.  There is a Way of the Cross Trail, the RICA chapel on the hill, the Sulod, Columbary, Labyrinth walk, some restaurants, and animal pens.  There is no entrance fee, but there is a dress code (no shorts, sleeveless, strapless, sando and the likes) since this is a place of worship.

Getting to Regina Rica is easy.  Just check out this location map for public and private transportation. The place is closed on Tuesday.
