How to Get to Fortune Island, Nasugbu, Batangas

Fortune Island  is located 15km south of the coast of Nasugbu. The 20-meter beach is best known for Greek inspired architecture, white sand and cliff-diving.  The water is very clean, but there are big waves and you must be very careful because you might drown, (hahaha, not really)  We went there last Sunday for a day trip and here is our itinerary:

Staycation: Astoria Plaza Ortigas

le Familia at Astoria
To celebrate my daughter's 11th birthday, we decided to have a staycation at Astoria Plaza in Ortigas, Pasig.  It was a very memorable stay and let me show you how. First, the hotel room and amenities.

We had a one-bedroom suite and it was good for 4 people and 1 kid which was exactly our headcount.  This is the bed in the master's bedroom and there is a roll-away bed in the living room.  Note the aircon on the side of the bed? You cannot pull the curtains because it will cover the aircon.

Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery

I have always wanted to visit the Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery after reading about it on a blog. They visited one of the Laguna lakes and then went here as a side trip.  Since we were already in Liliw, and Nagcarlan was already the next town, I insisted that we go for a short visit even though it was almost 4pm.  It was a good thing that we made it on time to see a national historical landmark, which is the only one of its kind in the Philippines!

Liliw Resort, Laguna: Cool, Clean and Clear!

Le Familia at Liliw Resort
Last Labor Day weekend, our family, my husband's sister and brothers and their family, and staff at the water station (for a total of 30 pax) went on a road trip to Laguna.  The destination was Liliw Resort, a place that all of them except us, have been to before and have been raving about. So, we were all excited.  We left Sta Mesa Manila at 7am, and we were at the resort at 12nn. We passed thru Tanay and Antipolo to avoid the traffic in Laguna. We had a stopover in Tanay for a quick breakfast, a stop over at the windmills and the overlooking for some quick photo ops.  There was little traffic, except in Tanay and so our three vans reached our destination in 5 hours including the eat stops, gas stops and photo stops.

Mt. Talamitam and Sidetrip to Layong Bilog

Last November 30, we went for a hike at Mt. Talamitam in Brgy Aga in Batangas. We now have a group, the Nasugbu Adventure Club, and together with some new-found friends, had a lot of fun climbing this 'easy' mountain.

Mt. Makiling UPLB Trail: Limatiks and an Enchantment

My first climb for 2014 proved to be very memorable.  It was a post-birthday climb, February 2, and I am proud to say that my 37 year old can still climb up that 1,090 MASL mountain.  But the legends about the mountain being enchanted is true! But I will not share with you the details of that part of the adventure. I will leave it to you to 'meet' the mountain for yourself!
